The MTP® is a high performance MPO connector that allows 12 fibers to be terminated in a single connector housing. MTP® connectors are extremely compact, offering 12 fibers in the footprint space of a standard SC adapter and substantially smaller cable sizes compared to standard patchcords. A single 12 fiber assembly with a cable diameter of 3.5 mm is at least 4 times more space efficient than 12 × PatchCords with a diameter of 2 mm.
Customers can benefit from dramatically reduced installation times. Moves, Adds and Changes (MAC’s) in the network can be reduced by a factor of 6 compared to conventional cabling methods.
Flexibility and scalability are also key features of the MPO connector family. Depending on applications, the connector can be used as a demarcation point whereby fan-outs or modules can be added later to suit customers specific requirements. Customers are no longer restricted by their first connector choice. With the MTP® connector, modules or fan-outs with different connectors can be swapped and changed as many times as the network demands it.
